The trip combines outdoor adventure, natural history and cultural interaction along one of Mexico’s finest coastlines. La Costa Alegre (costa=coast & alegre=happy) is located along the Central Pacific Coast of Mexico between Barra de Navidad and Playa Quémaro. Dense rolling hills of tropical dry forest are home to thousands of species of plants, animals, and birds. This diverse landscape joins the sea in natural perfection. Yellowstone welcomes travelers from around the globe to view its many wonders. The world’s first national park is famous for its amazing geysers, as well as being home to bison, elk, deer, eagles, moose, pelicans, bear and other wildlife. It is also infamous for its crowds. If you want to experience Yellowstone while avoiding the chaos, join us on a backcountry kayaking tour. On your tour you’ll explore thermal features, view wildlife, camp near pristine lake shores and enjoy the wilderness in relative solitude.

If you are comfortable with water and ready for adventure your guide will help you feel confident in your kayak. Touring is a low impact activity that is easy to learn and is enjoyed by people of all ages. Touring kayaks are swift, quiet and stable. They have rudders to help you steer and are comfortable to sit in.

Our guides are outdoor professionals with extensive wilderness kayaking experience. We provide the highest quality touring kayaks, gear and camping equipment. The food is "backcountry gourmet", at its best. Tours kayaking and camping gear, transportation, shuttles and meals. You need only bring your camera, personal clothing, toiletries and a sleeping bag. We provide sleeping bags for additional fee.

Touring Kayak Basics on Slide Lake Click here to see dates available
Learn to paddle a touring or recreational kayak on scenic Slide Lake. Slide Lake was formed in 1925 by the cataclysmic collapse of the north slope of Sheep Mountain. The slide path and debris are still clearly visible as you travel up the Gros Ventre River to the lake.

With views of surrounding forest, the red rock of the Gros Ventre Range and the peaks of the Grand Tetons, Slide Lake offers the perfect venue for learning to paddle. Basic stroke technique and kayaking safety are all covered in this fun and informative half-day course. More importantly, your guide will soon have you gliding across the water in your new craft. This course is a must for beginning recreational or touring kayakers.

If you don’t have a lot of time, this trip will give you a taste of kayak touring. Before embarking your guide will teach you the basics of handling your kayak. Lewis lake tours travel the west shore exploring thermal features and the entrance of the Lewis Channel. After this taste of kayaking you’ll want to return for a full serving. Cradled gently in the bowl of a high plateau, Yellowstone Lake’s 110 miles of shoreline bisect some of the most remote wilderness in the lower 48. Even if you have never kayaked you can enjoy this unique backcountry experience.

Traveling by motorized shuttle boat from Bridge Bay Marina, you and your guide will cruise to the southern arms of the lake and into the wilderness. After setting your camp, your guide will teach you the basics of paddling a touring kayak amidst this serene corner of the lake.

Your kayak will take you deeper into the wilderness and waters open only to paddlers. Wildlife sightings, snow capped mountains and verdant forest will all compete for your attention. You will also have time to hike, fish, take photos and enjoy the peacefulness of the backcountry before the shuttle arrives to return you to civilization.

Lewis & Shoshone Lake 3-Day Tour Click here to see dates available
If you are in condition to paddle longer distances and willing to line your kayak upstream you will enjoy the rewards of this tour. Pristine Shoshone Lake is in the backcountry and is open to paddlers.

Your guide will lead you up Lewis Lake and through the clear flowing waters of Lewis Channel. While paddling keep your eyes peeled for birds of prey, water fowl, trout, moose and other creatures that like to cruise this waterway.

Once on the Shoshone Lake you’ll have time to swim, fish and relax on the beach while your guide sets camp and cooks hearty meals. For most, the highlight of the tour is exploring the wonders of nearby Shoshone Geyser Basin. After experiencing the peacefulness of Yellowstone Backcountry it is hard to leave. At least its downhill most of the way back.
